A six-day celebration of the 200th anniversary of Congregation Mikveh Israel, second oldest Jewish congregation in the United States, will begin here next Tuesday night. Dr. David de Sola Pool, of New York’s Shearith Israel, oldest congregation in the country, and Rabbi A.A. Neuman of Mikveh Israel, will be the speakers. Dr. Pool will speak on George Washington and the Jewish congregations of his day, while Rabbi Neuman will review the historic and patriotic associations of the local Sephardic congregation, which traces its history back to 1740.
