Publication of Yalkut, monthly Hebrew supplement of the Zionist Review, has been enthusiastically welcomed in Hebraist and Zionist circles in Great Britain.
Its publication, it is pointed out, is rekindling the hopes of a Hebrew revival in Europe at a moment when the Hebrew movement on the continent has been swept away by the Nazi tide. Yalkut is edited by Dr. Simon Rawidowicz, chairman of the Tarbuth Association, who during the last war and under similarly difficult conditions published Hatekufah in collaboration with Tchernikovsky.
The first issue of Yalkut is devoted mainly to the 800th anniversary of Jehuda Halevi, famous Hebrew post. An editorial stresses British Jewry’s present increased responsibilities to Hebrew culture.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
