Wendell L. Willkie, asked at a general press conference today whether he favored creation of an independent Jewish state in Palestine after the war, said: “The present time is inopportune to discuss such a question, but my attitude is well known in the United States.”
(In an interview in New York during the presidential campaign, Willkie said he favored the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine.)
