David Ben Gurion, chairman of the Jewish Agency Executive, who recently returned from visits to Britain and the United States, stated at a press conference today that “the broken down Jewry of Europe can be healed only by independence” and “from now on we must prepare our hearts and that of world democracy for this single imperative solution.”
“There is no other solution for the millions of Jews’ than independence, Ben Gurion said. He asserted that while a British victory would restore the freedom of subjugated nations, only the European Jews would remain in ruins, even if the yellow badges were removed and their rights returned.
Praising the “British people’s heroic struggle for freedom and democracy,” he declared that their “ultimate victory will liberate the world from the Fascist-Nazi yoke.” He called on the Jews of the world to do their utmost for a British victory.
