A 200-page history of Jewish welfare institutions, agencies and activities in Detroit, written by S. D. Weinberg, has been published here by the Jewish Welfare Federation of Detroit.
The book, in Yiddish, is the first comprehensive historical and current account of the social services of a Jewish community in America. It contains a statement by Isidore Sobeloff, Executive Director of the Federation, in which the book is termed “a document of great usefulness to the student, the research worker, the educator, and the interested public, not only for the present but also in the future.” Sobeloff expresses the hope that other Jewish communities in America will emulate the example of Detroit.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
