Hungarian Parliament Considers New Racial Bill

Download PDF for this date

A discussion on the so-called “race protection bill” which emulates the racial laws of Germany was started here today in both houses of the Hungarian parliament, while the Budapest radio announced that 170 persons, mostly Jews, have been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment “for spreading false rumors” and for allegedly violating the blackout regulations.

The racial bill which is now before Parliament forbids marriage between Jews and non-Jews. Persons are not considered Jews, by the bill, if only two grandparents are Jewish, provided that they were baptized at birth.
