A call to all Ukrainians to launch wholesale pogroms against Jews, is voiced in the violently anti-Semitic Der Sturmer, reaching here today. Der Stunner, which is published by Julius Streicher, “high priest of anti-Semitism,” gleefully recalls all the pogroms that Ukrainians have ever inflicted upon the Jews.
Beginning with the Chmelnicki revolution in 1648, when the Ukrainians, “showing themselves to be heroes,” killed 400,000 Jews, the paper points out that 38,000 Jews were killed in the pogroms of 1905 and another 7,000 Jews were murdered in 1918-1919.
Der Stumer expresses the hope that the Ukrainians “who are not ordinary Slave but are members of the ‘Nordic Dimaric race’ and whose main virtue is a hatred of Jews” will again “rise to the occasion and take revenge on the Jews.”
