A sum of $7,586,411.40 was spent in Palestine by the national funds supported by the Jews of America from October 1, 1940 to September 1, 1941, it was announced today by Charles Rosenbloom, of Pittsburgh, Treasurer of the United Palestine Appeal.
The report of the expenditure of $7,586,411.40 during the 11-month period covered the activities of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, the Palestine Foundation Fund, which provides for colonization, immigration, security, national organization and the furtherance of every other avenue of national development, the Jewish National Fund, the land-acquisition arm for the rebuilding of the Jewish homeland, and the Central Buresu of the Jewish Agency for the Settlement of German Jews. All organizations are supported by American Jews through the United Palestine Appeal.
The largest item of expenditure in the 11-month report was $4,856,901.75 for colonization, the acquisition of land and its amelioration; $174,627.90 for immigration and training; $200,896.20 for relief; $317,467.35 for labor and housing; $360,680.85 for the stimulation of trade and industry; $804,281.40 for the promotion of education and culture and Youth Aliyah; $495,444.60 for security purity purposes and national organization and $376,111.35 for administration.
