Recruiting Weeks for Jews Proclaimed in Jerusalem and Haifa

With the recruiting week in Tel Aviv successfully concluded, similar recruiting weeks were proclaimed today in Jerusalem and Haifa for the purpose of adding 10,000 more Jews to those already enlisted in the British forces in Palestine.

Pinchas Ruthenberg, one of the leading figures in Palestine, today issued an appeal to all young Jews in the Yishub to join the armed forces. “The world is in danger, Jewish youth enlist!,” was the slogan advanced by Ruthenberg in his call.

A conference of the Maccabi sport organization concluded in Tel Aviv adopted a resolution to spur enlistment among its members for the special Maccabi military units which have been established. The recruiting week in Tel Aviv concluded with a procession of Jewish soldiers in the beflagged streets together with newly enlisted volunteers and Australian soldiers, all of whom sang Hatikva as they marched and danced the Hora when they reached the center of the city.
