More than 2,000 wives of Jewish soldiers in Palestine have been forced to apply to Jewish relief organizations for aid because of the meager pay given their husbands serving with the British forces, it is disclosed today by the Manchester Guardian.
Palestine soldiers are paid half the allowance given to soldiers in England, despite the fact that the cost of living is equally high in both places, the Guardian points out. It adds that there are also no provisions for the dependent parents of Palestine soldiers or pensions for disabled fighters.
