Intensification of anti-Jewish measures in Rumania, Croatia and other Nazi-dominated states is reported here today from Bucharest. The reports state that practically all synagogues in Croatia have either been “liquidated” or converted into clubs for “Aryans,” while in Rumania all Jews must again report for forced labor, including those who have already been released from labor camps after having completed their service there.
The Rumanian news agency Rador reported today that a movement to confiscate all Jewish property in Rumania has been launched by the anti-Semitic newspaper Porunka Vrem in Bucharest. The paper demands the outright expropriation of Jewish business enterprises by the government and the turning over of these enterprises to Rumanians. The anti-Semitic organ also insists that Jews in Bucharest should not be permitted to travel in street cars.
The Nazi-published newspaper Donau Zeitung of Belgrade reports that the Propaganda Ministry in Zagreb, capital of Croatia, issued an appeal to the Croatian population “inviting” them to submit to the authorities all books concerning Jews.
