Palestine Jewish Colonies Welcome King George of Greece

Signs in Greek and Hebrew on every house in the Jewish colonies in Sharon greeted King George of Greece, when, as commander-in-chief of the Greek of the came there to review his troops stationed nearby.

The King, who was attired in the uniform of a Greek General, and his party arrived in one of the Jewish colonies “somewhere in Sharon” which was decorated with evergreen to for the Hebrew word “Shalom” and walked to the spot where he was to take the salute of his armed forces. At the stand, not far from the colony, there were, besides King George members of his Cabinet and his leading generals, Greek fighter planes dipped low over the stand in salute as contingents of troops marched past and a military band planed the Greek national anthem.
