Vichy Announces Appointment of Notorious Anti-semite As Ruler over French Jews

The appointment of Louis Darquier de Pellepoix, notorious French anti-Semite, to the post of Commissioner for Jewish Affairs in France was officially announced today in the Official Gazette published by the Vichy government.

Simultaneously, it was reported today from Vichy that the Governor General of the French North African colony of Algeria has been authorized to appoint “Aryan” administrators for all Jewish enterprises in Algeria, beginning May 23.
