The twentieth anniversary of the adoption of the joint resolution by both houses of Congress favoring “the establishment in Palestine of the national home for the Jewish people” will be celebrated by the American Palestine Committee at its second Annual Dinner at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, on Monday evening, May 25, it was announced here today by senator Robert F. Wagner, chairman of the Committee.
Comprising 67 senators, 143 congressmen, Cabinet members, governors, mayors, jurists, clergymen, educators, writers, publishers and civic and industrial leaders, the Committee which numbered 300 members when it was organized in March, 1941 now has more than 800 American leaders on its roster. Its purpose is “to give expression to the interest, sympathy and moral support of the American people for the Jewish National Home in Palestine.”
Dr. Chaim Weizmann, President of the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency for Palestine, who arrived in this country from London last month, is one of the prominent speakers who will address the gathering, Senator Wagner announced. From London, Arthur Greenwood, member of the British War Cabinet and head of the Labor Party in the House of Commons, and Lord Wedgwood will speak to the assembly by radio.
