Henry Monsky, Omaha civic leader and national president of B’nai B’rith, received the honorary degree of Doctor of Hebrew Letters last night at the 30th annual Founder’s Day and commencement exercises of the Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning. Mr. Monsky is the first lay leader of Jewry who is not an academician and the fifth person in the College’s 34 years to be thus honored.

In conferring the degree, Dr. Abraham A. Neuman, Dropsie College president, lauded Mr. Monsky’s “distinguished record of service to your fellowman without regard to race or creed” and paid tribute to his leadership under which “B’nai B’rith has placed itself wholeheartedly at the service of our government and of all its agencies engaged in the effort to win the war and the peace.”
