A mass-meeting of 300 prominent Jewish and Christian Englishmen, Czechoslovaks and Poles today adopted a resolution protesting against the persecution and deportation of the Jews of Slovakia and expressing the hope that “a speedy-victory of the United Nations will bring a righteous peace and restore freedom to Czechoslovakia.”
Lord Strabolgi, British Laborite peer told the meeting, which was called by the Federation of Czechoslovakian Jews, that he would demand that the British government issue a formal protest to the world. Oliver Locker-Lampson, Conservative M.P. stated he would do likewise. Rhys Davies, Laborite M.P, revealed that he had placed on the agenda of the House of Commons the question of whether it was possible to send food and medicine to Slovakia’s Jews. Messages from Cardinal Hinsley, Catholic Primate of England, President Benes of the Czechoslovakian Government-in-exile and others were read to the audience.
