A United Jewish War Effort was launched here today at a conference of Jewish groups and fraternal organizations summoned by the American Jewish Congress at the Hotel Commodore for the purpose of bringing about the maximum participation of Jews in the Victory Drive of the United States and in war relief for Britain, Russia and China.

Speakers at the conference pointed out that it is not intended through the United Jewish War Effort, to supersede work already undertaken by other Jewish organizations. “Its purpose is to stimulate, coordinate and centralize the work so that it may be apparent how significant is the contribution of the American Jewish community to the effort to win the war and, following a victory over the Axis, to win the peace,” they emphasized.
