Palestinian and Australian Jewish Soldiers Honored for Services in Middle East

Six Palestinian soldiers today were awarded decorations by the British military command for distinguished services in the fighting in the Middle East.

Sergeant Max Eisenberg of Tel Aviv, a member of the Palestine Pioneer Corps, received the Military Medal for his gallantry in action while Corporals Berlin, Hirachheimer and Robinson of Jerusalem and Air craftsmen Brandt of Kiryat Haim and Teich of Tel Aviv were mentioned in the official dispatches. All of them are attached to the ground staff of the Royal Air Force.

At the same time, two Jewish officers serving with the Australian Army in the Middle Eastern theatre were similarly honored. Colonel J. Steigrad was made a commender of the British Empire and Major A. Fineberg was created a member of the Order of the British Empire.
