Terror against the Jews of Slovakia continues as the approximately 35,000 Jews remaining in the country await deportation to Poland, it is reported here today.
In the Slovak town of Bardyjov members of the Hlinka Guard, the Slovakian storm troop organization, drove 1,200 Jews into the largest synagogue in the city where they were compelled to shave off their hair, sidelocks and beards. The Jews were then loaded into freight cars and dispatched to Poland, without being given an opportunity to take leave of their families.
Reports reaching here from Vilnn today state that mortality in the ghetto there has increased greatly in the last few weeks as a result of starvation and epidemics.
