The establishment of a Jewish Government-in-Exile with its seat in Washington and with accredited diplomatic representatives to the governments of the United Nations is demanded by the Palestine League For a Free Jewish Government-in-Exile recently formed here by Prof. Joseph Klausner, Prof. Belikovski, M. Duchan, a former official of the Palestine Government, and others.
At a meeting here attended by more than 2,000 Jews from all parts of Palestine the leaders of the ne? organization emphasized that they do not belong to any political group and that they are quite independent in their political views. They outlined the program of the newly-formed League as follows:
1. The creation of an independent Jewish Government-in-Exile which is to represent Jewish interests in Palestine and in other countries.
2. The projected government, representing the entire Jewish nation, irrespective of the various political groups within the Jewish people, is to have its seat in Washington.
3. The Jewish Government-in-Exile should be formed along the same lines as the other exiled governments now functioning in London. It should have diplomatic representatives recognised by the British, American and other governments of the United Nations.
The meeting voted to establish contact with Jewish organizations abroad and to inform President Roosevelt, Prime Minister Churchill, as well as leading members of the British Parliament and of the U.S. Congress, of the establishment of the League and its purposes. Official Jewish circles in Palestine have so far abstained from making any comment on the League.
