Transjordan will join in an economic and political federation with Palestine, Syria and Lebanon along the lines suggested by Dr. J.L. Magnes, providing that the White Paper policy restricting Jewish immigration to Palestine is maintained, the London Times reports today in a cable from its correspondent in Transjordan.
The correspondent emphasizes that Transjordan would agree to a customs union of Palestine, Transjordan, Syria and Lebanon; also to joint defense and to joint foreign representation, remaining autonomous in other respects. “A closer union depends on the implementation of the French policy which promised complete independence for Syria and Lebanon as well as on the British policy with regard to restrictions on Jewish immigration and land sales in Palestine as provided by the White Paper,” the correspondent reports.
