Alarmed over the increased manifestations of anti-Semitism in England, fostered by Fascist elements, the National Council of Civil Liberties today announced that it will ask the British Government to promulgate legislation making the spreading of anti-Semitic propaganda, by individuals as well as by organizations, a criminal offense.

The Council also joined in the demand that the British Government take effective measures to rescue the Jews in Nazi Europe, by guaranteeing neutral countries that these Jews will not become a burden upon them if admitted, and by opening the doors of Britain and of British territories to the Jewish victims.

Lady Snowden, prominent welfare leader, addressing a meeting here demanded that Britain and the United States amend their immigration laws in order to admit more Jews from Nazi Europe. She assured the audience that “thousands of homes are ready to receive these Jews.”
