Associations of French war veterans and invalids in Great Britain, it was learned today, have telegraphed to General Henri Giraud protesting his abrogation of the Cremieux Law of 1870, under which Jews of Algeria had been made French citizens.
Through Giraud’s action a number of Jewish airmen from North Africa who had been decorated for heroism in General Charles De Gaulle’s airforce and whose fathers and grandfathers had fought for France in two wars, suddenly found themselves deprived of French nationality, it was disclosed by an informed source.
