The 400th anniversary of the publication of Copernicus’ theory that the sun is the center of the universe and not the earth, was marked at the Hebrew University today at ceremonies presided over by Dr. Judah L. Magnes, president of the university. Papers were read concerning the philosophical implications of Copernicus’ theory and also its influence on astronomical discoveries.
