Philadelphia Jew Awarded Eleven Decorations for Bravery in Air Battles

S/Sgt. Marvin Mitchell, 22, of Philadelphia, has been awarded the Air Medal and ten Oak Leaf Clusters, the Jewish Welfare Board reported today. Sergeant Mitchell is a Flying Fortress gunner and has been on fifty bombing missions.

Marvin is credited with shooting down four Nazi craft and crippling a great many others. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps two years ago upon graduation from South Philadelphia High School.
