Hoover to Testify Today on Sending Immediate Relief to Occupied Europe

Download PDF for this date

Ex-President Harbert Hoover will testify tomorrow in favor of sending immediate relief to Nazi-occupied Europe, at an open hearing before a special sub-committee of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Mr. Hoover, who directed foreign relief in World War I, is expected to argue that help can be given the victims of Nazi war without helping the enemy.

Among the other witnesses during the scheduled two-day hearing will be Dr. Howard Kershner, for three years relief director in Europe for a private charity, and Clarence Pickett, former secretary of the American Friends Service Committee.
