Tribute to a Pittsburgh Jewish family whose eighth son entered the U.S. armed services last Friday was paid in the House of Representatives by Rep. Samuel A. Weiss, who also inserted in the Congressional Record on article published in the Pittsburgh press stating that of the ten sons in this family only two married men are still civilians.
“The city of Pittsburgh, Pa.” Rep. Weiss said, “is indeed proud of Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Grossman, residents of that city, in view of the fact that last Friday Michael Grossman became the eighth son to enter the services of his country. Only two married sons and a daughter of this splendid family remain at home. Mr. & Mrs. Grossman were honored by the American Legion and by the selective service board of the city of Pittsburgh, and they acknowledged these honors with pride and said they were happy that their boys could serve this great country of ours to help preserve the ideals that make it possible for Catholics, Protestants, and Jews to live together in a spirit of brotherhood and fellowship.
