Palestine Jewish Assembly Renews Plea to Democratic Governments to Rescue Jews

A plea to the democratic governments “to overlook possibility for the rescue of Jews from occupied countries,” was addressed today by Assefath Kanivcharim, the Palestine Jewish Assembly, at its session convoked to deal with the problem of saving the remnants of European Jewry.

An appeal was also made to the Jews in all democratic countries to exert all possible pressure on their governments with regard to the work of rescue. A message greetings was addressed to the 33,000 Jewish volunteers serving with Palestine units in the British armed forces. The message also urged the Jews of Palestine to continue their enlistments in these units.

An all-Palestine Jewish student conference opened today in Tel Aviv with 51 delegates representing more than 1,000 students of the Hebrew University, the Haifa technical Institute, the Tel Aviv High School for Law and Commerce and four teachers seminaries. The conference was addressed by David Ben-Gurion who declared that the task of the Jewish students must be to mobilize science for the Jewish state.
