The French Committee for National Liberation, in a broadcast from Algiers, today announced the establishment of a special committee to deal with relief in France immediately after the Allies land there.

The announcement emphasized that the committee will pay special attention to the plight of Jewish children in France whose parents have either been killed by the Germans or deported to occupied Eastern territories. “We know very well the generosity which the people in France are showing to these children, but we feel that planned government aid must be organized for them,” the Broadcast said.

The Vichy radio today announced that the special ten percent tax imposed upon Jewish property throughout France has been increased to twenty percent. “The increase will be used to help destitute Jews,” the announcement said.
