American Jewish Conference Postpones Its Session in Chicago As Aid to War Effort

The American Jewish Conference will not hold its Chicago session scheduled to take place during Labor Day week-end, it was announced here today by its Interim Committee.

Complying with a request by the Office of Defense Transportation, the conference decided to postpone the meeting, the announcement said. It added that the gathering will probably take place before the end of the year, since the ODT has indicated that a 60-90 day postponement would be satisfactory. Because of the emergency character of the relief and rescue problems with which the conference deals, the Interim Committee is desirous of convening the meeting as soon as possible.

At the same time, the interim group announced that it had decided to enlarge the conference’s administrative committee by adding to it the chairmen of the commissions on post-war problems, Palestine and rescue activities.
