Jewish Refugee Expert on Semitics Commits Suicide in Cairo

Prof. Paul Krauss, Czech Jewish Orientalist, committed suicide here over the week-end. Krauss, who was born in Prague, occupied the chair of Semitics at Cairo University. Although only 40, he was well known for his many works in Arabic and Hebrew and for his critical studies of Semitic poetry.
