Canada should accept a fair proportion of the expected 2,000,000 European refugees, not only from a humanitarian viewpoint but also because she would benefit from the skill, brains and culture of these people, it was agreed by participants in a discussion here on post-war immigration before the Women’s Canadian Club.
One of the participants in the panel, T. R. McLagan, general manager of Canadian Vickers Limited, said that “Canada must get immigrants here at any price” and that a populated Canada could also bring about mass production and cheaper cost by increasing the country’s consuming power.
