Religious and racial freedom will be restored to Germany and all Nazi laws and agencies contrary to this principle will be abolished by the Allied Military Government, the German people were told today in a proclamation broadcast to them in the name of Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Fourth in the series being broadcast to Germany to explain the principles under which the Allied Military Government will act, the proclamation declared all places of religious worship would be reopened and their claims for restoration of property stolen by the Nazis would be recognized, the Office of War Information reported.

“For over ten years you have been existing under a regime which made unjust discrimination against innocent people into a system of law. Such laws are abhorrent to every sense of justice. They will not be tolerated by the military government,” the broadcast said. “The military government will strike down and abolish all Nazi-made laws which discriminate against and penalize any person or group on the ground of religion, race, nationality, language or political opinion.”
