As a tribute to the hospitality which Sweden has offered Jewish refugees during the war, a scroll attesting to the establishment in Palestine of a “King Gustav Forest” will be presented to the Swedish monarch at a ceremony in Stockholm today, it was announced here by the Jewish National Fund.
In this connection, Dr. Chaim Weizmann has cabled King Gustav declaring that “the forest planted in the hills of Palestine will keep forever green the remembrance of your Majesty’s humane and generous attitude toward the suffering members of our hard-pressed people, and will be a mark of Jewry’s sincere gratitude to your Majesty and the Swedish people for your help in our distress.” The funds to finance the forest were raised among Jews in Sweden.
