Treasures Captured in Reich Include Jewish Property Looted in Russia, Poland, Holland

An inventory of the thousands of rare Jewish books, manuscripts and art treasures found yesterday by American Third Army troops near Hungen, in Germany, revealed that the objects were looted by the Germans from Jewish institutions in Russia, Poland, Greece, Germany, France and Holland, a correspondent of the London Daily Telegraph reports today.

The paintings and the manuscripts, which were collected under the direction of Dr. Alfred Rosenberg, belong to the Portuguese Jewish Congregation in Amsterdam, the Rothschild Museum in Frankfurt-am-Main, and to Jewish museums in Kharkov, Kiev, Lodz, Solonica and Pards, it has been discovered.
