A demand that the rigorous Palestine censorship be abolished in view of the and of the war in Europe was veiced today in two Palestine newspapers.
The English-language Palestine Post and the Hebrew daily Hatzofe carry editorials stating that since most of the emergency defense regulations have been revoked, there is no justification for continuance of the censorship, which, they charge, hampers the freedom of the press.
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency, however, learns from extremely reliable suorces that the Palestine Government has no intention of lifting the censorship at the present time.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
