Fifty British tanks and armored cars today rumbled through the main streets of Tel Aviv in a demonstration of Britain’s military might and its ability to suppress any possible disorders.

At the same time, the Histadruth decided to continue its drive for enlistment of Jews for the Palestine regular police as well as for supernumerary police units. It also decided to continue the enlistment of Jews for the Jewish Brigade.

The Arab newspaper Falastin today publishes a severe attack upon President Truman for his request that Britain admit 100,000 Jews to Palestine. Openly insulting the President, the Arab paper says: “The rawness with which Adon (Mister in Hebrew) Truman tackles the Palestine question is the best example of his boyish mentality.”

The paper asserts that “Adon Truman was elected by America’s reactionary parties and represents America’s capitalistic class. This man Truman has a raw mentality and behaves like a street boy. Such a man will annoy England, but cannot influence her. There is a big difference between boys’ joking and the seriousness of mature statesmen.”
