Although the majority of the British Labor Party favors the abolition of the White Paper and the immediate opening of Palestine to Jewish immigration, it was understood here today that Prime Minister Attlee is not prepared to go beyond slight modifications and that the White Paper, for the time being, will continue to remain the basis of British official policy with regard to Palestine.

The Palestine problem will come up for discussion tomorrow at a meeting of labor members of Parliament. It was emphasized here today that despite Attlee’s attitude, leading members of the Labor Party are doing their best to exert influence on the Labor Government in order to obtain maximum concessions for Jews in the statement which Attlee is expected to make on Thursday in the House of Commons.
