Prime Minister Attlee, replying today to a question in the House of Commons, said that he “cannot agree” that the Government’s delay in issuing a statement of policy on Palestine justifies a resort to violence. He reiterated that a statement would be made as soon as possible.

The question was put to the Prime Minister by Mrs. Barbara Ayrten Gould, (##)crite, who asked that a short-term immigration policy be enunciated before Attlee issues for Washington. Mrs. Gould said that the continued Government silence makes it difficult for loyal Jews to control the terrorists.

Barnett Janner, another Laborito, who is vice-president of the Zionist Federation of Great Britian, pointed out that the White Paper had been declared illegal on several occasions, and, therefore, it was unfair “to keep people waiting for the results of an investigation by the Mandates Commission.”
