Although Jewish hospital and medical facilities here are limited, owing to lack of funds and building materials, the Jewish Agency and Jewish medical institutions are willing to furnish immediate hospitalization for 150 Jews from displaced persons camps in the American zone in Germany, provided that they will be allowed to remain in Palestine after they recuperate, it was learned here today.
It is understood that during discussions with Eliahu Dobkin, Agency immigration chief, and heads of Hadassah, a joint delegation which arrived here yesterday from Frankfort to seek hospitalization facilities was told that the Jewish community is willing to restrict its own medical services to provide a maximum of aid to Jewish survivors, if UNRRA secures entry visas for the invalids, and if they are not required to leave as soon as they have recovered.
The delegation consists of P.J. MacCormack of the Intergovernmental Refugee Committee; Col. David Elliot, chief medical officer of UNRRA in Germany; Col. R.C. Richardson, representing the U.S. Army; and Mrs. Ruth Kluger of the Jewish Agency. While here Mr. MacCormack will also discuss the problems of stateless refugees in the displaced persons camps.
