Ninety-eight refugees from the refugee shelter at Fort Ontario, Oswego, N.Y., entered the United States as free men and women with All immigrant status yesterday. They received their visas at Niagara, Canada, and then left immediately for the American city of Niagara Falls.
Part of the group arrived at Grand Central this morning where they were met by representatives of the Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society, and by relatives and friends. This was the first group from the shelter to enter the United States as a result of President Truman’s Christmas directive ordering that they be permitted to remain in this country.
