An advisor for Jewish Affairs will shortly be appointed to the British occupation staff in Germany. John Hynd, Government spokesman in the House of Commons on all problems dealing with military occupation, today informed Laborite H.P. Samuel Silverman. He added that the Government has decided, however, not to establish separate Jewish centers in the British zone, because it would conflict with the Government’s policy of not distinguishing among displaced persons on religious grounds.
In a written reply to Silverman, Foreign Minister Ernest Bevin said that it has not yet been decided whether any Government departments would testify before the joint Anglo-American inquiry committee on Palestine, which opens hearings here Friday.
