The restoration of confiscated and stolen property to Jews in Bohemia and Moravia has already begun, Harold Trobe, Joint Distribution Committee director for Czechoslovakia, declared at a press conference here.
He also said that of 367,000 Jews who lived in Czechoslovakia before the German invasion, only some 60,000 survived. Although statistics are not available, the tuberculosis rate is “terrible,” Trobe disclosed, adding that there were no Jewish children under the age of seven, and that children under 14 totalled only eleven percent of the serving Jewish population.
