The UNO was urged last night to take up the question of Jewish immigration into Palestine, in a resolution adopted at the closing session of the conference of displaced Jews in the American zone. It suggested that the UNO set up a body to transfer to Palestine all Jews who desire to go there.
Other resolutions rejected British Foreign Minister Bevin’s suggestion that Jews remain in Europe, termed the White Paper a “disgrace to Britain,” and urged Jews throughout the world to units with those in Palestine in the struggle for establishment of a Jewish state.
The delegates thanked President Truman and the American people for their help in the Palestine struggle and voiced their appreciation for the aid rendered by members of the Jewish Brigade. At the same time, they protested continuation of anti-Jewish activities in Poland.
Zalman Grinberg was named chairman of the Central Committee of Displaced Jews in the American zone and Chaplain Abel Klausner was elected honorary chairman. An executive council of twenty-one was elected.
