Rumanian Colonel Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Massacres of Jews in Odessa

The trial of Rumanian officials charged with a mass-killing of Jews in Odessa and in Dorohci concluded here today when Col. Petala, chief defendant in the Odessa massacres, was sentenced to life imprisonment. Two accomplices of Petala also received life terms. Gen. Balcanu, chief defendant in the Dorohci massacres, was acquitted.

Anti-Semitic leaflets were distributed today in the streets of Bucharest and anti-Jewish slogans were posted on walls throughout the city by unknown persons.
