The arrest of Rudolf Hoess, former commandant of Oswiecim death camp, was announced yesterday by British military authorities in Germany, who have been searching for him for nine months.
Hoess, who is considered by the British authorities as the “greatest individual Hitler” in history, was accused by Joseph Kramer, executed “Beast of Belsen,” as being responsible for the gassing of millions of Jews. He was caught in the Flensburg area for the Danish border and immediately brought to British headquarters in Germany, where he is reported to have signed a confession labeled, “How I Gassed Two Million.”
