The third convention of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities convened here today, with high government officials and Jewish leaders in attendance. The meeting is being presided over by Dr. Guissepi Nathan, head of the Union.
The Government was represented by Minister of Labor Gaetano Barbareschi, Under-Secretary of Justice Veroni, Under-Secretary of Communications Fano and by two members of the Senate, Marchesse Della Torretta and Admiral Coudzen.
Dr. Nathan reported on the recent activities of the Union. Other speakers included Chief Rabbi David Prato, Leib Garfunkel, head of the Jewish Refugee Committee; Dr. Umberto Nahon of the Jewish Agency; Rafaele Cantoni of the World Jewish Congress; and Benjamin Brook of the Joint Distribution Committee. Mr. Brook reported on JDC activities in Italy.
