Edward M. Bernstein Named Assistant Secretary of Treasury; Was Professor of Economics

Edward M. Bernstein, former professor of Economics at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, has been named assistant to the Secretary of the Treasury, the Treasury Department announced today.

Bernstein has been assistant director of the Treasury’s division of monetary research since 1941. He was a member of the United States Technical Mission to Cuba in 1942, Chief of the Technical Financial Mission to Honduras in 1943, technical adviser to the United States delegation at Bratton Woods in 1944.
