The scheduled conference of the prime ministers of the British dominions, which is slated to meet here about the time the Anglo-American Inquiry Committee will submit its report, will be given an opportunity to discuss the recommendations contained in the report before the Cabinet acts on them, it was learned today.
The Palestine problem will also come up at the conference when questions on the defense of the British Commonwealth are dealt with. Great importance is attached to the views on Palestine which will be expressed by Canadian Prime Minister William Mackenzie King and Field Marshal Jan Smuts of South Africa, and by Premier Peter Franser, of New Zealand.
The memorandum sent by Gen. Smuts to the Anglo-American inquiry committee was made public here today. It emphasizes that the Balfour Declaration was not a temporary expedient, but was intended as a declaration of long-range policy. It also points out that the 1939 British White Paper was in conflict with the terms of the Palestine mandate.
