Dr. Emil Sommerstein, chairman of the Central Jewish Committee of Warsaw, which represents all surviving Jews in Poland, arrived here today to consult with leading Jewish organizations in the United States on the problems facing Polish Jewry.
Among the problems which the delegation will discuss with the Jews of America are the relief and rehabilitation of Polish Jews, ways and means of combatting anti-Semitism in Poland, resettlement of 180,000 Jews who are being repatriated from the Soviet Union to Poland, facilitating immigration to Palestine of those who desire to settle there, and care for the thousands of homeless and orphaned children whose parents were murdered by the Nazis.
Accompanying Dr. Sommerstein were ten delegates representing the several groups and organizations which compose the Polish Jewish community, including Marek Bitter, Joseph Zack, M. Mirsky, Dr. Shlome Herschenborn, Hirsch Vasser, Itzhak Gerson, Anatole Wertheim, and the Misses Chaya Grossman, Halina Gertner and Ida Sommerstein.
